Neglected Suburbs and Small Businesses
Revitalizing suburbs through improved amenities and local shops can create vibrant, attractive communities. I have heard from many members of our community of suburbs that have been neglected for way too long.
They wish to see improvements. Some see the growth in population in their suburb, yet the existing amenities and shops are outdated or simply not enough to accommodate the growth of residents in their suburb.
We will work to involve residents in DECISION-MAKING by gathering input on desired amenities and shops, through surveys and feedback, as well as fostering neighbourhood associations and groups that advocate for local interests and work collaboratively with local government.
We will push to offer incentives for local businesses, through grants or tax breaks to encourage the opening and expansion of local shops. This in addition to developing business support programs, with training and resources for entrepreneurs to help them succeed in the local market.
Furthermore, STREAMLINING licensing and permits for local businesses, coupled with expedited services for small businesses or startups that meet certain criteria, would significantly reduce barriers to entry and encourage entrepreneurship. This includes collaboration between different regulatory agencies to streamline approvals and reduce overlapping requirements.
